Indian film actor John Abraham has written a letter to Nepal’s Minister for Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, Badri Pandey, expressing concerns about animal abuse during the upcoming Elephant Festival in Chitwan.
Abraham mentioned in his letter that elephants are often beaten, forced to run, used for rides, and made to play polo and football during the festival. He emphasized that these intelligent and sensitive animals suffer physical and emotional pain during such events.

He added that those who have seen elephants in their natural habitat would recognize them as symbols of strength, wisdom, and national treasures. He believes Nepal has the opportunity to lead by preserving and respecting these beautiful animals.
In his letter, Abraham requested the minister to cancel the elephant competition. He also hoped that Nepal would continue to move forward by promoting compassion and respect for all living beings, contributing to a better future. Abraham shared his deep affection for Nepal and his belief that a bright future for the country will come from honoring citizens, and wildlife, and preserving its unique natural beauty.
