Ashok Yadav, the Madhesh Province president of the Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) led by Ashok Rai, is now facing fresh controversy. Just recently, a warrant was issued against him after he allegedly used offensive language against Sarlahi’s Superintendent of Police (SP) Yogendra Kumar Khadka during a phone call.
However, this is not Yadav’s first run-in with the law. According to police sources, he has faced seven previous legal cases, ranging from public misbehavior to attempted murder and theft.
Cases from the past
Ashok Yadav has a long history of legal troubles. Police records show he has been charged five times in the past for public misbehavior, including abusing police officers.
One of the most serious cases dates back to 2077 Jestha 27, when he allegedly violently assaulted Raj Narayan Ray over a land dispute in Chakarghatta-7, Sarlahi. Police later filed a case against him for attempted murder.
Attacks on police and public offices
In another incident on 2073 Kartik 29, Yadav verbally abused a police patrol team in Salempur VDC–7, also in Sarlahi. He reportedly attempted to assault them when they tried to question him.
Earlier, on 2073 Saun 13, Yadav was accused of entering the Irrigation Development Division office in Malangawa without permission and abusing an officer over the phone after demanding their personal mobile number.
Back in 2072 Poush 5, while serving as the Sarlahi district president of the then-Federal Socialist Forum, Yadav vandalized government property at the District Administration Office. He damaged computers and printers in the citizenship and passport department. A case was filed for causing damage to government property.
Alcohol and robbery-related charges
In 2072 Falgun, he was also charged with abusing police officers while allegedly under the influence of alcohol.
A much earlier case from 2066 Asoj 10 accused him of robbery. Yadav reportedly stopped Shivshankar Prasad Mahato, an accountant from the District Education Office, on his way to Malangawa and looted Rs. 1.5 lakh in cash. The group also allegedly damaged Mahato’s motorcycle.
Lastly, in 2057 Poush 8, a case was filed for verbal abuse after Yadav reportedly insulted Nathuni Sah at the District Agriculture Development Office in Malangawa–10.
Currently on the run
Despite the warrant issued for verbally abusing SP Khadka, Ashok Yadav is now on the run. Authorities have yet to locate him.
