Ju HakYeon, formerly associated with K-pop group The Boyz, has been officially cleared of recent allegations linking him to prostitution, following a detailed investigation by Seoul authorities.
On July 2, the Gangnam Police Station announced it would not move forward with charges against Ju under South Korea’s Act on the Punishment of Arrangement of Commercial Sex Acts. The decision came after investigators found insufficient evidence to support the claims made against him.
The case originated from an anonymous submission on the national petition platform. The report accused Ju of paying for a private meeting with Japanese former adult film actress Asuka Kirara at a bar in Tokyo, referencing an online article as its primary source.
Despite the claims, police found no credible proof beyond the article itself and concluded that the allegations did not justify legal action or a formal investigation.
This controversy followed closely on the heels of an announcement by Ju’s agency, One Hundred Label, which stated last month that he would be stepping back from entertainment activities for personal reasons. The prostitution rumors quickly surfaced afterward, causing widespread speculation online.
Ju did admit to having met Asuka Kirara but strongly denied any inappropriate conduct. In the wake of the allegations, One Hundred Label revealed that Ju had decided to leave the group and terminate his exclusive contract.
In an effort to defend his reputation, Ju has filed a counter-complaint against the anonymous tipster for defamation and false reporting. Additionally, he has launched a civil lawsuit targeting the media outlet responsible for publishing the initial report.
The case has reignited discussions around media responsibility and the dangers of baseless accusations in the entertainment industry.
