Popular Nepali folk-pop band Kandara is set to perform in Ilam for the first time. This Friday, the band will take the stage at Karfok Stadium in Suryodaya Municipality-12 to celebrate Gyalpo Lhosar.
The concert is being organized by the Suryodaya Hotel Entrepreneurs’ Association, with support from the Karfok Youth Family. Association President Prajwal Pradhan stated that the event aims to promote local tourism through Kandara’s performance.
He said, “Kandara is on a world tour under the theme ‘Home Country First, Then Abroad’ as part of its 32-year musical journey. This concert will help promote our city.”
Lead singer Bivek Shrestha expressed his excitement, saying it was the band’s first-ever performance in Ilam.
“Concerts are rare in this historic place. We might be the second band to perform here. Audiences from Sikkim and Darjeeling, India, are also expected to attend, making this concert even more special,” he shared.
He also suggested that Kharpok could become a concert hub. “Since it’s close to Kanyam, this place has great potential for hosting concerts. It will also boost domestic tourism. I believe people will embrace Kandara’s music once again.”
Currently, Kandara is on a national and international tour with the slogan ‘Home Country First, Then Abroad.’ The band has already performed in Pokhara and Kathmandu and began its international tour from the UK. They have also performed in Qatar, UAE, and Hong Kong and are preparing for shows in Australia, Europe, and the USA.
From March to April, Kandara will perform in eight Australian cities, including:
- Hobart (March 8)
