Popular Indian comedian and television host Kapil Sharma’s newly launched restaurant, Kap’s Cafe, in Surrey, British Columbia, was reportedly targeted in a shooting early Thursday morning, July 10, 2025.
The Surrey Police Service (SPS) confirmed that it responded to a report of gunfire at a business around 1:50 a.m. local time. Although police did not publicly name the establishment, multiple reports suggest that the targeted location was Kapil Sharma’s cafe, which the comedian recently introduced to fans through a video on Instagram.
Shots fired while staff were still inside the cafe
In an official statement, the SPS said, “Upon arrival, it was quickly determined that the shots were fired towards the business, damaging the property, while staff members were still present inside.” Fortunately, no one was injured during the incident.
The police added that the attack occurred at a business located on the 8400 block of 120 Street in Surrey, and the investigation is still underway. Authorities are currently looking into whether the incident is linked to any other crimes and are also trying to determine a possible motive behind the attack.

So far, Kapil Sharma or his representatives have not issued any statement regarding the shooting. The cafe had gained attention earlier this week after Sharma shared a promotional video on Instagram, highlighting the new venture in Canada.
No suspect identified as investigation continues
According to The Vancouver Sun, the police do not yet have a description of the suspect or suspects involved. The motive behind the shooting also remains unclear.
The Surrey Police have assured the public that the investigation is active and ongoing.
