Karnali Yaks has announced their return for the second edition of the Nepal Premier League (NPL) with a stronger team. In a statement released on Wednesday, the franchise emphasized their remarkable performance in the first season, which boosted the pride of Karnali residents
Karnali Yaks : Contribution to Cricket and Sports Tourism
The team highlighted their efforts in promoting cricket and sports tourism by bringing Indian cricket star Shikhar Dhawan to Nepal. “By signing India’s World Cup-winning opener Shikhar Dhawan, we not only contributed to Nepalese cricket but also promoted sports tourism. Bringing a player of Dhawan’s caliber to Nepal was a proud moment for us.”
Karnali Yaks Determined for a Stronger Comeback
Although Karnali Yaks did not reach the finals in the first season, they were satisfied with their overall performance and are determined to come back even stronger. “Our team played at a high level of competition. Though we couldn’t win the title or make it to the finals, reaching the playoffs in such a grand league made all Karnali residents proud. The support from our fans has motivated us to be even stronger in the upcoming season.”
Addressing Misinformation
The franchise also addressed misleading reports about the team, clarifying their stance through the press release. “Certain baseless reports have attempted to undermine our commitment to cricket and the identity that Karnali Yaks built in just one season. While we usually refrain from responding to such misinformation, we believe it is our duty to clear the air as we prepare for a stronger comeback in the second edition.”
Team Leadership
In the first season of NPL, Karnali Yaks played under the captaincy of Sompal Kami, with former national team captain Gyanendra Malla serving as the head coach and cricket director.
