Kathmandu Metropolitan City has scheduled the next municipal assembly meeting for Asar 32 (July 16, 2025) to discuss and pass its upcoming budget and policy plans.

Assembly Called to Approve Policy, Budget, and Bills

The meeting has been convened to:

  • Review the progress of the current fiscal year 2081/82
  • Discuss and approve the policy and programs, annual budget, Finance Bill 2082, and the Appropriation Bill 2082 for the upcoming fiscal year

In the first meeting of the 17th municipal assembly held on Sunday, Mayor Balen Shah (Balen) announced that the next meeting will take place at 2 PM on Asar 32 at the National Assembly Hall.

Budget Announcement: NPR 25.76 Billion for FY 2082/83

Kathmandu Metropolitan City has proposed a budget of NPR 25.76 billion for the upcoming fiscal year. Of this:

  • NPR 25.11 billion will be covered through the city’s consolidated fund
  • NPR 650 million is expected to come from external sources

Delay Due to Internal Conflicts

Before presenting the budget, Mayor Shah had already introduced the city’s policy and programs. As per the constitutional requirement, all local levels must present their budget by Asar 10. However, internal disagreements within the Metropolitan City caused delays this year.

Deputy Mayor Sunita Dangol even issued an apology for the delay in presenting the budget.
