Kathmandu Metropolitan City is organizing a skills fair with training available in 42 different professions. Interested individuals can apply online until today (Jestha 5) to join these free skill-based training programs.
7 New Courses in the IT Field
Earlier, the IT group included 5 courses, but now 7 new professions have been added, making it 12 in total. The newly included skills are:
- Cyber Security
- Multimedia
- .NET
- Java
- PHP
- Graphic Design
The previous IT courses like Digital Marketing, Drone, Robotics, Fiber Optic Technician, and AI applications are still available.
Beautician Group Also Gets Expanded
In the beauty sector, a new skill called ‘Wigs’ has been introduced, increasing the beautician courses to 5. Meanwhile, the other 10 groups still offer the same 34 courses without expansion.
With 8 new professions added, the total number of training categories now reaches 42.
Focus on Job Market Needs
Engineer Shailendra Jha, head of the implementation committee, said the training courses and class numbers were updated based on employer demand. Applicants can fill out an online form by clicking the available link.
For those unable to apply online, a help desk is set up at Rastriya Sabha Griha today, according to committee member Vivek Bastola.
Over 3,500 Applications Already Submitted
So far, 3,576 people have applied, with the highest interest seen in Digital Marketing, Barista, AI, Bakery, and Beautician categories.
Kathmandu Metropolitan aims to train 2,082 people for free in collaboration with government, non-government, and private sectors.
Who Can Apply?
Priority will be given to:
- Permanent or temporary residents of Kathmandu
- People living in landfill-affected areas
- Differently-abled individuals
- Street-based small business operators
Eligibility:
- Age between 18 to 58 years
- Must be a Nepali citizen
The training will last for 30 days, with 6 classes daily, totaling 100 hours.
