The film Magne Raja, starring actor Kedar Ghimire in the lead role, has started its shoot today. This is Kedar’s first film in a central role.
Having previously played supporting characters, Kedar is now stepping into a leading role for the first time. How does he feel about it? He says, “For me, acting is more important than the role itself.”
Kedar, who gained popularity from the TV series Meri Bassai, has worked in films such as Chha Ekan Chha, Wada Number 6, Chh Maya Chhappkai, and the Chhakka Panja series. Most recently, he also worked in Jeri An Top.
He states, “I am a person who worships work, so I’ve never distinguished between lead or supporting roles.” According to Kedar, he believes in the character-driven role rather than the title of a ‘hero.’ He says, “Someone else may be the hero, but I believe in the work that the character does.”
Kedar has been preparing for this character for the last three months. However, he does not agree with the idea that the lead character alone carries the film. “In a film, it’s not just the lead character. Every character’s strength is equally important,” he says.
He feels no fear because the film features strong actors like Aryan Sigdel, Barsha Shiwakoti , Wilson Bikram Rai, and Shishir Bandel, who provide a strong backbone. “With strong actors like them, what’s there to worry about?” he adds.
Kedar expresses his intention to perform his role powerfully in the film. “The most important thing is to do my work well. I will try to give justice to the character as much as possible,” he says. The film’s shoot has begun in Panauti, Kavre.
Written by Samipraj Timilsina and directed by Rishi Lamichhane, this film is expected to release during next year’s Haritalika Teej festival.
