Kesari Chapter 2 First Review: A Gripping Courtroom Drama That Strikes Deep

Back in 2019, Kesari wowed audiences with its gripping portrayal of the Battle of Saragarhi, cementing Akshay Kumar’s status as one of Bollywood’s most impactful performers. Fast forward to 2025, and the action star is back — this time in Kesari Chapter 2, a stirring continuation with a brand new narrative and cast.

Directed by Karan Singh Tyagi, this sequel shifts the focus to a lesser-known but deeply important historical event — the Jallianwala Bagh massacre of 1919. Rather than revisiting the battlefield, Kesari Chapter 2 dives into the aftermath, unfolding as a powerful courtroom drama based on The Case That Shook The Empire, a book by Raghu Palat and Pushpa Palat.

Akshay steps into the role of C. Sankaran Nair, a fearless lawyer who challenged the British Empire and exposed the horrific truth of the massacre. Joining him on screen are Ananya Panday and R. Madhavan, adding fresh energy to this hard-hitting historical narrative.

Ahead of its release this Friday, a special screening was held in Delhi, where early reactions are already creating buzz. Lawyer and politician Charu Pragya, who attended the screening, shared her excitement on social media, tweeting:
“Watching the screening of #KesariChapter2, half way through the movie and I didn’t even blink in the first half! INCREDIBLE! Take a bow @akshaykumar. Your finest yet! Thank you @HardeepSPuri Sir for organising this.”

Adding to the praise, actor Rana Daggubati also expressed admiration for the film.
“Just watched an incredible historical courtroom drama — Kesari Chapter 2: The Untold Story of Jallianwala Bagh,” the Baahubali star tweeted. “A powerful, important film that stands tall and stays deep with the Indian in you… Great performances by @akshaykumar @ActorMadhavan @ananyapandayy #KesariChapter2.” He also confirmed that Suresh Productions is working to bring the film to Telugu-speaking audiences.

With early reviews already calling it a must-watch, Kesari Chapter 2 looks poised to deliver a compelling cinematic experience grounded in truth, courage, and justice. The film releases in theatres on April 18 — will you be watching?
