Actor Kim Soo Hyun and his agency, GOLDMEDALIST, have taken further legal action against YouTube content creator Kim Se Eui, the operator behind the HoverLab Inc. channel, accusing him of persistently violating South Korea’s Stalking Punishment Act.
According to an official statement released today, the agency confirmed that they filed a second complaint against Kim Se Eui after he continued to circulate false information about the actor, despite a court-issued provisional order instructing him to stop such behavior.
The legal conflict first began on April 1, 2025, when GOLDMEDALIST and Kim Soo Hyun lodged an initial complaint, arguing that the repeated and malicious spread of misinformation by Kim Se Eui constituted a form of criminal stalking under South Korean law.
Following an investigation, authorities requested a court-ordered provisional measure on April 22. The Seoul Central District Court approved this the next day, April 23, effectively banning Kim Se Eui from continuing the alleged harassment. However, GOLDMEDALIST claims that the YouTuber defied the court order after being formally notified on April 24 and has since resumed sharing false claims.
Under Article 20, Paragraph 2 of the Stalking Punishment Act, violating such a court order can result in imprisonment for up to two years or a fine of up to 20 million KRW (approximately $14,000). In response to the continued defiance, Kim Soo Hyun and his agency have now filed an additional complaint to reinforce their position and seek stronger legal consequences.
The agency reiterated its firm stance against defamatory actions and affirmed its commitment to protecting the rights and dignity of its artists.
