South Korean actor Kim Soo-Hyun is in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons. Following allegations of dating late actress Kim Sae Ron when she was underage, the actor has faced growing backlash from fans, sponsors, and the entertainment industry.

According to Korea Joongang Daily, Kim Soo-Hyun was completely removed from the latest episode of the variety show Good Day. Even though he was originally present in a group shot with singer CL from 2NE1, producers edited the footage to make sure he didn’t appear on screen at all. The move comes amid rising pressure from the public over the ongoing controversy.
Drama Postponed, Brands Back Out
The fallout hasn’t stopped there. Kim Soo-Hyun’s upcoming drama Knock Off, which was set to be released soon, may now be postponed or even canceled. A spokesperson from Disney Korea told Koreaboo that the release schedule is still undecided due to the growing scandal. Sponsors and advertisers associated with the show have also raised concerns, and several brands have already cut ties with the actor.
Soo-Hyun Breaks Silence in Emotional Press Conference
In an effort to clear the air, Kim Soo-Hyun recently held a press conference to address the rumors. Speaking openly, he denied dating Kim Sae Ron when she was a minor.
“I’ll address the biggest concern—I did not date the deceased when she was a minor. We dated five years ago for about a year, long before Queen of Tears aired.”
The actor also explained why he didn’t confirm the relationship earlier:
“As the lead actor of Queen of Tears, I couldn’t publicly acknowledge the relationship due to the potential impact on the cast and crew.”
He further denied claims that his agency pressured Kim Sae Ron over any financial matters, stating:
“Aside from the fact that we were both actors, we were simply an ordinary couple who broke up over time.”

The internet remains divided. While some fans are showing support, many others are outraged. Adding to the drama, fellow actor Ahn Bo Hyun reportedly unfollowed Kim Soo-Hyun on social media, which only fueled public speculation.
Despite gaining new Instagram followers after his emotional press conference, Kim Soo-Hyun’s future in the entertainment industry now seems uncertain.
