Kyle Jamieson has officially joined Punjab Kings (PBKS) for the remainder of the IPL 2025 season, replacing fellow New Zealander Lockie Ferguson, who has been ruled out due to a hamstring injury.
Ferguson’s Injury Ends His IPL 2025 Campaign
Lockie Ferguson suffered a hamstring injury on April 12 during PBKSβs clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. In four games this season, the 33-year-old speedster took five wickets. His absence is a blow for PBKS, who are fighting for a playoff spot.
Ferguson, who has previously played for Kolkata Knight Riders, Gujarat Titans, and Royal Challengers Bengaluru, has 51 wickets from 49 IPL matches at an average of 30.00.
Kyle Jamieson Brings Experience and Depth
Kyle Jamieson steps in as a strong replacement. The 30-year-old all-rounder from New Zealand has featured in the IPL before, playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2021, where he took eight wickets in nine matches. He was also signed by Chennai Super Kings in 2023 but missed the season due to injury.
Jamieson recently played for Quetta Gladiators in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), taking two wickets in two matches. He skipped the rest of the PSL to join the PBKS squad for INR 2 Crore, as confirmed by the IPL in an official release.
PBKS Welcome Jamieson on Social Media
Both PBKS and the IPL confirmed Kyle Jamieson’s arrival on May 15 via social media posts, showing the franchise’s confidence in his ability to strengthen their bowling attack.
