Veteran fullback Kyle Juszczyk is set to leave the San Francisco 49ers after spending eight seasons with the team. According to source, the 49ers informed Juszczyk, 33, on Monday night that they will release him when the new NFL league year begins on Wednesday.
Juszczyk was due to earn a base salary of $4.1 million in 2025, along with a $100,000 signing bonus. Despite his release, the nine-time Pro Bowler has no plans to retire and will continue playing next season, making him a valuable free-agent target for NFL teams.
Key Role in 49ers’ Success
Juszczyk was one of the first players signed after head coach Kyle Shanahan and general manager John Lynch took charge in 2017. Since then, he has been a crucial part of the team’s offense due to his versatility. He helped the 49ers reach two Super Bowls during his tenure.
In the 2020 Super Bowl against the Kansas City Chiefs, Juszczyk became the first Harvard graduate to score a touchdown in the championship game. He finished with three catches for 39 yards. The 49ers made it back to the Super Bowl in 2024 but lost once again to the Chiefs, this time in overtime after a last-second touchdown by Mecole Hardman Jr.
Off-the-Field Life
Kyle Juszczyk is married to Kristin Juszczyk, a well-known fashion designer. Throughout his career, he has been recognized not only for his skills on the field but also for his presence off the field, often seen supporting his wife’s fashion endeavors.
