As per the league’s retention policy, Lalitpur has secured defender Sanish Shrestha from Category A and winger Aditya Shakya from Category B. Both players played an instrumental role in the club’s championship-winning campaign last season.
Club Managing Director Alok Jung Joshi highlighted their significance, stating that the duo’s contributions were vital in securing the title, and the club is confident they will continue to deliver outstanding performances in the upcoming season.
The player auction for NSL Season 3 is scheduled for February 22, 2025, with the tournament set to kick off on March 29, 2025. Seven franchise teams will compete in this edition of the league.
Lalitpur’s Journey to the NSL Title
Lalitpur City FC finished fourth in the league phase with 10 points, securing a spot in the playoffs. In the eliminator, they dominated the first edition champions, Kathmandu Rayzrs, with a convincing 3-0 victory. The semifinal saw them battle through extra time after a draw in regulation, eventually clinching a spot in the final.
In the championship match, Lalitpur triumphed over Dhangadhi FC with a thrilling 3-2 victory, securing their maiden NSL title. Their squad boasted top talents, including Nepalese international Ananta Tamang, French goalkeeper Jeffrey Baltus, and Nigerian forward Imoh Ezekiel, who emerged as the top scorer in the last NSL season.
With two of their core players retained, Lalitpur City FC aims to build another strong squad in the upcoming auction as they prepare to defend their title in NSL Season 3.
