Due to continuous rainfall on Monday night, landslides and flooding have fully blocked the Araniko Highway in Sindhupalchok. The slides occurred in Bhote Koshi Rural Municipality at Kodari (Ward 2), Larcha (Ward 3), and Koplang (Ward 2), halting all traffic, police reported.
Flooding in nearby rivers has worsened the situation, and road-clearing efforts are ongoing. Long lines of stranded vehicles have left travelers stuck for hours.
Other key roads across Nepal have also been affected by the monsoon rain. Kantipath in Lalitpur, the Binayi Khola section of the East-West Highway, and the Kaligandaki Corridor in Gulmi are all blocked. Roads in Dhankuta (Rabi-Ranke-Bhedetar) and Jumla-Mugu are open only one way.
The Road Department says efforts to reopen all routes are in progress.
