Heavy rainfall on Saturday has blocked multiple rural roads in the hilly areas of Udayapur district due to landslides and floods.
Roads connecting Gaighat to Rauta-Salle and Rauta-Bhutar have been blocked, according to local resident Bishnu Pathak. He said some roads were destroyed and others buried under landslides.
Other affected roads include Rauta-Namant, Rauta-Aaptar, Nametar-Okhreni, and Rametar-Bhadure. The route from Rauta to Majkhark via Murkuchi and Dillibar is also blocked due to landslide damage and flood erosion.
Locals, including Jambu Sherpa from Majkhark, said that even motorcycles cannot pass through. The road leading to Basbote Baraha via Murkuchi, Dillibar, and Majkhark is among those closed.
In Udayapurgadhi, the Bhalaayadanda-Barre and Dumre-Udayapurgadhi roads have also collapsed, causing transport disruptions. Additionally, the road from Kothu (Belaka Municipality-8) to Mainamainee is blocked due to Saturday’s downpour.
Four rural municipalities in Udayapur’s hill region are currently affected by road closures.
