Beloved television actors Lataa Saberwal and Sanjeev Seth, who became household names as Akshara’s parents in the iconic Star Plus show Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, have announced their separation after 16 years of marriage.
The two met on the sets of the long-running daily soap and their on-screen chemistry soon blossomed into a real-life romance. In 2009, they tied the knot in an intimate ceremony and later welcomed their son, Aarav, in 2013.
Lataa, 49, took to Instagram on Saturday to share the news with her followers. In her candid and heartfelt note, she confirmed that the couple had been separated for some time. “After a prolonged silence, I declare that I (Lataa Saberwal) have been separated from my husband (Mr Sanjeev Seth). I give gratitude to him for giving me a lovely son. I wish him all the best for his future life,” she wrote.
She also made a humble request to fans and media: “Please respect my and my family’s peace and not ask any questions or call regarding this.”
Over the years, Lataa and Sanjeev had become symbols of lasting love in the entertainment industry. In 2013, they won hearts once again when they appeared together in the dance reality show Nach Baliye 6, charming audiences with their chemistry both on and off screen. Even after facing personal challenges, the two continued to work together professionally, notably reprising their beloved roles in the spin-off Yeh Rishtey Hain Pyaar Ke.
This isn’t Sanjeev Seth’s first public separation—he was earlier married to actress Resham Tipnis, with whom he parted ways in 2004.
