Lee Do Hyun is reportedly in talks to take on the lead role in an upcoming K-drama written by the celebrated Hong Sisters. According to an April 2 report from Korean media outlet Sports Chosun, the actor has emerged as a strong contender for the highly anticipated project.
Previously, Cha Eun Woo of True Beauty was rumored to have been offered the role. However, after a month of speculation, reports confirmed that he had declined the opportunity. Now, Lee Do Hyun’s name is making headlines as the next potential lead.
An industry insider revealed to Sports Chosun, “Lee Do Hyun is likely to return as the main character in the Hong Sisters’ new work.” If he accepts the role, this would mark his first project following his scheduled military discharge in May 2025. His most recent appearance was in the horror film Exhuma, where he portrayed a heavily tattooed shaman. Over the years, he has gained immense recognition for his performances in The Good Bad Mother (2023), Sweet Home (2020-24), Youth of May (2021), and The Glory (2022).
Actress Go Min Si has already confirmed her participation in the upcoming drama, having officially joined the project in January. If Lee Do Hyun signs on, it would mark their third collaboration after Youth of May and Sweet Home. Given their well-loved on-screen chemistry, fans have been eagerly anticipating their potential reunion.
The drama’s screenwriters, Hong Jung Eun and Hong Mi Ran, are among the most respected names in the South Korean entertainment industry. Their impressive portfolio includes hits like My Girlfriend Is a Gumiho, The Greatest Love, Hotel del Luna, and Alchemy of Souls. Lee Do Hyun previously worked with them in Hotel del Luna (2019), further heightening expectations for this new project.
