A house was destroyed by fire caused by lightning and rain in Rautamai Rural Municipality-5, Dhukurchung, Udayapur.
The lightning struck at around 4 AM on Saturday, setting fire to the house of local resident Chakrabahadur Rai, causing a loss of about 500,000 rupees.
The fire, accompanied by strong winds, burned down Rai’s two-story house made of stone, mud, and tin. Inside the house, food, clothes, utensils, and wooden items were destroyed, according to DSP Kedar Man Dong, spokesperson for the District Police Office.
In addition to the house, a goat shed, a pigsty, and a pig inside the shed were also destroyed in the fire. The fire was brought under control by 5 AM, after which it went out on its own.
