On Wednesday night, a storm with rain and lightning caused damage in Lumbini Province, resulting in one death and damage to several buildings.
According to Lumbini Province Police Chief DIG Dan Bahadur Karki, a 15-year-old girl died after being struck by lightning. She was from Kutibang, Rolpa Municipality-10, and stayed at a relative’s house in Sunil Smriti Rural Municipality, also in Rolpa.
DIG Karki said the strong wind blew off the tin roofs of a three-room building of the Area Police Office in Banke’s Bankatta and the ward office building in Baldengadhi, Palpa. Both buildings are now unsafe to use.
Storms also damaged the Gangadev Rural Municipality of Rolpa and the Panini Rural Municipality of Arghakhanchi. The wind also uprooted trees planted in the middle of the road in Surkhet Road, Banke.
