Meanwhile, second-placed Arsenal was held to a goalless draw against third-placed Nottingham Forest.
Following these results, Liverpool remains at the top of the table with 67 points from 28 games. Arsenal holds second place with 54 points from 27 games. Nottingham remains third with 48 points.
Manchester City sits in fourth place with 47 points, while Newcastle is sixth with 44 points. Tottenham stands in 13th place with 33 points.
