Liverpool has reached the final of the English Football League (EFL) Cup. On Thursday night, they secured their place in the final by defeating Tottenham 4-0 in the second leg at their home ground, Anfield. Cody Gakpo, Mohamed Salah, Dominik Szoboszlai, and Virgil van Dijk each scored a goal to secure Liverpool’s victory.
Overall, Liverpool won 4-1. They had lost the first leg 1-0 but made a comeback in the second leg to claim victory and move closer to the title.
In the 34th minute, Gakpo scored, giving Liverpool a 1-0 lead in the first half. Liverpool then added three more goals in the second half. In the 51st minute, Salah scored from a penalty, doubling Liverpool’s lead. Szoboszlai scored in the 75th minute, followed by Van Dijk in the 80th minute, sealing Liverpool’s 4-0 victory.
Liverpool will now face Newcastle United in the final. Newcastle reached the final by defeating Arsenal in the semifinals. Liverpool, the defending champion, has won the EFL Cup a record 10 times.
