Lopez vs Apple Claim Your Share of Apples 95 Million Siri Lawsuit Settlement

Apple has agreed to settle a class-action lawsuit for $95 million due to allegations that Siri, the voice-activated assistant, recorded users’ conversations without their consent. Although Apple denies any wrongdoing, eligible users may be able to claim part of the settlement.

Why is this Important?

Time is running out for users to submit claims for the Siri lawsuit settlement. If you qualify, you could receive up to $100 as compensation. Apple, however, insists that Siri has always been designed with user privacy in mind and that the data collected has never been sold or used for marketing purposes.

Background of the Lawsuit

The lawsuit, Lopez v. Apple, was filed in 2019 after Apple admitted that some Siri interactions were recorded by contractors, even when users didn’t activate Siri with the “Hey Siri” prompt. In response, Apple suspended the program and apologized for how it handled the recordings. The settlement was filed on December 31, 2024, and the legal battle could soon be over, but there’s still time for eligible users to file a claim.

Who Can Claim Compensation?

If you purchased or owned an Apple device with Siri enabled between September 17, 2014, and December 31, 2024, you may be eligible for compensation. Depending on the number of claims, users could receive up to $20 per device.

You can claim compensation for up to five Siri-enabled devices that you believe activated Siri unintentionally during private or confidential conversations.

Eligible Devices for the Settlement

The settlement covers a range of Apple products that have Siri enabled. These include:

  • iPhones
  • iPads
  • Apple Watches
  • MacBooks
  • iMacs
  • HomePods
  • iPod Touches
  • Apple TVs

Key Deadline: July 2, 2025

The deadline for submitting a claim is July 2, 2025. This is also the last date to opt out of the settlement. Be sure to mail your request if you want to opt out.

How to File a Claim for the Siri Settlement

To file a claim, visit the Lopez Voice Assistant Settlement website. If you received an email or postcard with a claim identification code, you can use that to submit your claim. If you haven’t received anything, you can still submit a claim online.

If you’re unsure whether you qualify, contact the Settlement Administrator using the details available on the website.

Legal Requirements for Filing a Claim

When submitting your claim, you’ll need to attest under penalty of perjury that:

  • You purchased or owned a Siri-enabled device in the U.S. or its territories.
  • Siri was enabled on that device.
  • You experienced at least one unintended Siri activation during a private or confidential conversation.

When Will You Receive the Settlement Payment?

The court is scheduled to hold a final approval hearing on August 1, 2025, at the United States District Court in Oakland, California. However, this date may change, so be sure to check the settlement website for updates. If no appeals are filed, you can expect your payment shortly after the settlement is approved.

Be patient, as the process may take some time if there are any delays or appeals. Updates will be posted on the settlement website.
