In a thrilling encounter on February 17, 2025, Machhindra Football Club from Kathmandu secured a 1-0 victory over Jhapa XI Football Club in the third quarter-final of the ongoing 15th Control Itahari Gold Cup Football Tournament. The match, held in Itahari, Sunsari, saw Machhindra’s Malik Bamidele Yusuf score the winning goal in the 31st minute, sending his team into the semi-finals.

Machhindra’s performance was solid throughout the match, with Jhapa XI putting up a strong defense but failing to find the back of the net. As the match progressed, it became clear that Machhindra’s relentless attack and disciplined defense were too much for Jhapa XI to handle. The decisive moment came in the 31st minute when Malik Bamidele Yusuf netted the lone goal of the match, sealing Machhindra’s place in the next round.
