A man who had been absconding for over two decades after committing a murder in Bhojpur has finally been arrested.
Shamsher Bahadur Tamang of Chainpur Municipality-9 was arrested 21 years after he killed Parshuram BK of Bhojpur Jarayotar-4 and went into hiding.
According to Inspector Ram Kumar Lamichhane of the District Police Office, Tamang had been hiding in various places over the years and was recently found living secretly in his village. Based on a special tip-off, a police team from the Area Police Office in Chainpur arrested him.
The High Court in Dhankuta had sentenced Tamang to two years in prison on 17 Asar 2069 BS. After being on the run for years, he was presented before the Sankhuwasabha District Court in Chainpur following his arrest.
On Monday, he was sent to the Khandbari Prison to serve his remaining sentence.
