Police have arrested a man on charges of forcing his wife to commit suicide. The suspect has been identified as 28-year-old Rajesh Saud from Thalara Rural Municipality-4.
On Friday morning, the body of his 27-year-old wife, Dharma Saud, was found in the Seti River. Based on a complaint filed by Dharma’s family, police arrested Rajesh and have started further investigation, according to Lokendra Thagunna, Acting Chief of the District Police Office.
Rajesh told the police that his wife left home around 3 AM on Friday and jumped off a bridge into the Seti River, which is about two hours away. He also claimed that he and some others had followed her and saw her jump.
However, police suspect foul play due to Rajesh’s statement and the timing of the incident. Thagunna said that the post-mortem report will help determine whether it was a suicide or murder. Rajesh is also being investigated for previous incidents of physical abuse and torture against his wife.
