A group opposing the construction of a cable car in the Pathibhara area smeared soot on a man in Dharan, Sunsari. The incident happened inside Hong Kong Hotel, Dharan-9, during a press conference of the Yakthung Chumlung Central Committee.

According to the police, leaders of the Mukumlun Struggle Committee smeared soot on Padam Limbu Mawo, the vice president of Yakthung Chumlung, at around 1:30 PM on Sunday. The attackers accused him of trying to take a commission from Chandra Dhakal, the head of the cable car company.

Police arrived at the scene and settled the dispute between both sides but did not make any arrests. The press conference was also attended by Yakthung Chumlung’s central president, Dil Singh Menyangbo.

Those involved in the attack reportedly include Bishnu Thamden, central deputy general secretary of the Janamukti Party, Amar Izam, a central leader of the Nagarik Unmukti Party, and leader Gentle Lawati.
