Man Dies in Wildfire in Bhimphedi, Makawanpur

A 49-year-old man died after being burned in a wildfire in Bhimphedi Rural Municipality-1, Naya Gaun. The fire broke out in a local community forest, according to the District Police Office, Makawanpur.

The deceased has been identified as Akil Bahadur Pakhrin, a local resident, police spokesperson Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Shyamu Aryal confirmed.

According to Aryal, Pakhrin, along with his wife and elder brother, went to their farmland late last night after suspecting that the wildfire from the nearby Bokedaha Community Forest might spread toward their cattle shed.

During the incident, Pakhrin reportedly fell off a cliff near his farmland and went missing. His body was found today entangled in vines at a location called Bhorla, where he had succumbed to burns from the fire.

The body has been taken to Hetauda Hospital for a post-mortem, and further investigations are underway, Aryal added.
