A man was seriously injured in a Khukuri attack at Durga Chowk, Biratnagar Metropolitan City-2, on Thursday night.
According to Morang Police spokesperson DSP Bed Prakash Joshi, 55-year-old Ramesh Gupta was attacked with a Khukuri, causing a severe neck injury. He has been admitted to Nobel Medical College for treatment.
The attack took place around 8:30 PM and was carried out by 28-year-old Sakhyam Sapkota, a local resident. Gupta and Sapkota knew each other, and Gupta had previously worked at Sapkota’s house. However, the reason behind the attack is still unknown.
During the initial investigation, police found that Sapkota was a drug user. After attacking Gupta outside his house, he ran into the kitchen. When police broke down the door to catch him, he escaped through another exit and fled.
The police are currently searching for Sapkota.
