Manchester United defenders Harry Maguire and Leny Yoro are ready to return to the squad when the team resumes their Premier League campaign against high-flying Nottingham Forest on Tuesday.
Key Defenders Return
Maguire, who had been sidelined with a calf injury, missed United’s last two league matches. Yoro, a French teenager, had been out with a foot injury. Manager Ruben Amorim confirmed both are now fit to play.
Additionally, Ayden Heaven, who joined United from Arsenal in January, is recovering well after being carried off during his debut start. While not ready for immediate action, Amorim assured fans that Heaven would return before the season ends.
Other Injury Updates
While Luke Shaw and Kobbie Mainoo have resumed training, they are not yet fit enough for selection. Amorim confirmed that Shaw is gradually re-integrating into team drills, while Mainoo is nearly ready for match action.
A Tough Challenge Ahead for Manchester United
United, currently sitting 13th in the table, are unbeaten in their last four league games, but will face a tough test against third-placed Nottingham Forest, who are eyeing a return to the Champions League for the first time in 45 years. Forest played an intense 120 minutes in their recent FA Cup quarter-final win over Brighton, while United come off a 15-day break.
Rashford’s Loan Success and Fernandes Staying Put
Regarding former United forward Marcus Rashford, Amorim stated that he is focused on his own team and players, though he acknowledged Rashford’s success on loan at Aston Villa, where he scored his first two goals for the club in a 3-0 FA Cup win.
As for captain Bruno Fernandes, Amorim made it clear that the Portuguese midfielder, who has been linked with a move to Real Madrid, will not be leaving United. Amorim reiterated that Fernandes is a key player for the club and remains firmly in their plans.
Fernandes has contributed 16 goals and 15 assists across all competitions this season, playing a pivotal role in United’s campaign.
