Manika Batra, India’s leading women’s table tennis player, has lost her father, Girish Batra, who passed away from a cardiac arrest on Tuesday. His cremation took place on the same day at Inderpuri, and a prayer ceremony is scheduled for Thursday.
Manika, 29, is best known for her achievements at the 2018 Commonwealth Games, where she won gold in both the women’s singles and team events. She also earned a silver in women’s doubles and a bronze in mixed doubles. In addition, she secured a bronze in mixed doubles at the 2018 Jakarta Asian Games.
