The CPN (Maoist Centre) has demanded a formal explanation from the Prime Minister regarding recent media reports of a Rs 7.8 million bribe deal involving government ministers for the transfer of government employees.
During Sunday’s House of Representatives session, Maoist MP Rekha Sharma raised the issue, urging the PM to clarify the situation through the Parliament.
“Reports say the Minister of Federal Affairs and General Administration and the Minister of Land Management were involved in a Rs 7.8 million bribe deal for staff transfers. What’s the truth? We urge the honorable Prime Minister to inform Parliament through the Speaker,” Sharma said.
She also called for a strict investigation and punishment for those involved, regardless of their position.
“If not addressed, this could be the only legacy of this government’s one-year term,” she warned.
Additional Concerns Raised by MP Sharma:
- Referral Center Issue in Dang: Sharma expressed concern over the designation of Rapti Institute of Health Sciences as a health insurance referral center. “Patients must now travel 24–25 km, bypassing nearby hospitals. This adds unnecessary burden,” she said, urging the government to reverse the decision immediately.
- Bus Accident in Kapilvastu: Sharma also drew attention to a bus accident involving a vehicle from Kathmandu to Dang, requesting the government to ensure proper treatment for the injured.
