Max Verstappen has openly criticized Red Bull’s sudden decision to replace Liam Lawson with Yuki Tsunoda for the Japanese Grand Prix. The four-time world champion made his feelings clear by liking a social media post that called the move “bullying” and a “panic decision.”
When asked about it at the Suzuka Circuit, Verstappen didn’t hold back. “I liked the comment, so I think that speaks for itself,” he said. “Everything I think about this, I’ve already shared with the team.”
Was Lawson Treated Unfairly?
Lawson, who got his Red Bull seat after being promoted from the RB team, only had two races to prove himself—both on tracks he had never raced on before. Verstappen believes that’s not fair for a rookie.
“Formula 1 is very tough, especially at the start of the season,” Verstappen explained. “Many tracks are new for rookies, and sprint weekends make things even harder.”
Red Bull’s Struggles Continue
Verstappen is currently second in the drivers’ championship, trailing McLaren’s Lando Norris by eight points. McLaren has won both races so far, showing they might have a faster car this season.
Despite winning at Suzuka for the past three years, Verstappen admitted Red Bull is struggling. “Our car is not where we want it to be, and that’s the main issue,” he said.
With tensions rising and Red Bull’s performance slipping, all eyes are on Verstappen and his team as they fight to reclaim their dominance in F1.
