Renowned Nepali actress Laxmi Shrestha, who has featured the role of Apsara Aama in popular comedy shows Meri Bassai, is currently waging a war against breast cancer and other ailments. She is receiving treatment at her Baluwakhani home in Kapan after being discharged from the hospital due to her serious condition.
A Long Health Battle Since Dashain
Laxmi was unwell from Dashain time last year. She underwent treatment in the Bhaktapur Cancer Hospital four months back. Though she did come back home a couple of times between hospitalization, she never really improved and doctors are now suggesting home care.
Under Daughter’s Care, Living on Liquid Diet
Laxmi currently remains bedridden and is under continuous care from her daughter. Her health has instead continued to deteriorate over the past fortnight. She is unable to consume solid food and survives on a liquid diet. Sources further state that her medication regimen has been suspended due to her weakening health.
Artists Visit to Show Support and Love
Following her wish to see her co-actors, her daughter shared her new photo with actors she had worked with. This motivated several of her colleagues and friends in the entertainment industry to visit her at home and express their solidarity.
Actors Sitaram Kattel (Dhurmus) and Kunjana Ghimire (Suntali), co-stars from Meri Bassai, were the first among scores of the big names to visit. Other household faces such as Sushila Niraula (Bimili), Rajaraj Paudel, Surveer Pandit, and Ravi Dangol have also paid visits to express their solidarity.
