Bayern Munich’s sporting director Max Eberl has hailed Michael Olise as the “Bundesliga’s player of the season” following the winger’s brilliant performance in a 4-0 win over Hoffenheim on Sunday. The 23-year-old scored a sensational free kick in the first half and assisted Joshua Kimmich early in the second, wrapping up a standout debut campaign in Germany.
Michael Olise Record-Breaking First Season
Olise ended the season with 15 assists—more than any other player in the Bundesliga—as Bayern clinched the league title, finishing 13 points ahead of last year’s champions Bayer Leverkusen. The London-born France international also became the only Bayern player to appear in every single league match this season.
Big-Money Move Paying Off
Brought in by Eberl from Crystal Palace before the season began, Olise joined Bayern for a reported €53 million ($60 million). His impact was immediate and lasting, quickly becoming one of the club’s key players.
“Our Foundation for the Future”
Eberl praised Olise not just for his skill, but also for his leadership when stars like Jamal Musiala and Harry Kane were sidelined. “Alongside the coach Vincent Kompany, he’s our biggest signing,” said Eberl. “He’s our foundation for the future.”
Impressive Numbers Across All Competitions
Across all competitions, Olise scored 17 goals and delivered 21 assists. He also won two penalties that were converted by Kane, further underlining his all-round attacking influence.
Praise from a Club Legend
Veteran forward Thomas Müller, who played his final Bundesliga game for Bayern on Saturday, said Olise’s performances were no fluke. “It’s impressive to see how consistently he plays at this level, especially at a big club in his first season,” Müller said.
International Duties Await
After winning silver with France at the 2024 Paris Olympics, Olise is set to represent the senior French national team in the UEFA Nations League semi-final against Spain this June.
