Spring to Life Update Is Coming Soon
The first big game update of the year is called Spring to Life, and it arrives on March 25. This update will make the Overworld feel more lively with:
- New warm and cold versions of cows, pigs, and chickens
- Fun features like falling leaves, whispering sand sounds, and glittering firefly bushes
- More reasons to explore different biomes
Meet the Dried Ghast and the Flying Happy Ghast
The second game update (not yet named) will bring brand-new features:
- The Dried Ghast Block: A cute little block with tentacles and a grumpy face that you can find in the Nether.
- How It Transforms: Place the Dried Ghast in water, and it will slowly turn into a Ghastling — a small, happy, balloon-like creature.
- From Ghastling to Happy Ghast: Feed the Ghastling snowballs, and it will grow into a Happy Ghast.
The most exciting part? You can craft a harness, lure the Happy Ghast, and ride it along with up to three friends. Flying around on the Happy Ghast will make survival building feel like Creative Mode — but without leaving Survival Mode.
New Locator Bar Makes Finding Friends Easier
A handy new feature, the Locator Bar, will show you the direction where your friends are. This will be very helpful when flying around on a Happy Ghast or exploring large worlds together.
Vibrant Visuals: A Big Visual Upgrade in Minecraft Live
Mojang has announced Vibrant Visuals, a new upgrade that will make Minecraft’s world look more colorful and lively. This change will not affect gameplay, but it will change how the game looks and feels for players.
A Minecraft Movie Clip and Special In-Game Event
Mojang also shared a sneak peek from the upcoming Minecraft Movie and announced a special in-game event.
- The event will take place in Midport Village.
- Players will join Steve and other movie characters to protect the village from a Piglin attack.
- There will be three mini-games in this live event.
- The event runs from March 25 to April 7.
- Players who finish all challenges will unlock the exclusive Yearn Cape.
What Mojang Will Not Do
During Minecraft Live 2025, Mojang also shared some important decisions:
- There will not be a Minecraft 2.
- Minecraft will not become free-to-play.
- Mojang will not use generative AI to develop the game.
