Mingmar & Santoshi Dominated Resunga 10K Run

Mingmar Tamang and Santoshi Shrestha emerged victorious in the open category of the Shine Resunga National 10K Run, Nepal’s most lucrative 10-kilometer race. The event, held in Butwal under the slogan “Run to Shine,” marked the 17th anniversary of Shine Resunga Development Bank. Both winners took home a cash prize of NPR 100,000 each.

Santoshi Shrestha Claims Women’s Title

In the women’s category, Santoshi Shrestha secured first place, completing the race in 36 minutes and 21 seconds. Following her were:

  • 2nd place: Purnarajya Laxmi Neupane
  • 3rd place: Pushpa Bhandari
  • 4th place: Asha Rawal
  • 5th place: Narayani Bhandari

Mingmar Tamang Dominates Men’s Race

Mingmar Tamang took the top spot in the men’s race, while the other podium finishers were:

  • 2nd place: Nageshwar Air
  • 3rd place: Ganesh Singh Rawat
  • 4th place: Sanjib Nepali
  • 5th place: Akkal Baduwal

The runner-up in both categories received NPR 40,000, the third-place finisher won NPR 20,000, while the fourth and fifth-place finishers earned NPR 15,000 and NPR 10,000, respectively.

Local 5K Race and Veterans’ Category

Alongside the main 10K event, a local 5-kilometer race was held, where Shiv Rayamajhi and Puja Pachhai won the men’s and women’s titles, respectively.

Other results from the 5K local race:

  • Men: Ajay Pandey (2nd), Mukesh Tharu (3rd), Prem Lal Kohar (4th)
  • Women: Tejmaya Kunwar (2nd), Prakriti Ghimire (3rd), Pratibha Kewar (4th)

In the veterans’ category, Mankumari Rayamajhi and Goma Subedi took first and second place among women, while Yub Bahadur Rana won the men’s race, followed by Govinda Thapa (2nd), Keshar Singh Mahat (3rd), and Tek Bahadur Budhathoki (4th).

The winners in the veterans’ category received NPR 15,000, while the runner-ups earned NPR 10,000. The third and fourth-place finishers secured NPR 5,000 and NPR 2,500, respectively.

A Well-Organized Event with Strong Participation

The race, which began from Shine Resunga Development Bank’s central office in Kalikanagar, Butwal, passed through Manigram Chowk before concluding back at the starting point. The event received official approval from the National Sports Council and the Nepal Athletics Association.

Out of 1,600 registered participants, around 600 runners competed across the three categories.

Honoring the Champions

The winners were awarded by Baikuntha Manandhar, Nepal’s legendary Olympic marathoner and goodwill ambassador of the event, alongside Province Assembly Member and former minister Bishnu Panthee, Shine Resunga Development Bank Chairman Thaneshwar Paudel, and CEO Prakash Paudel.

The Shine Resunga National 10K Run has once again reinforced its status as one of Nepal’s premier long-distance races, attracting elite athletes and local talents alike.
