Tom Cruise showed special love for India by releasing his latest movie, Mission Impossible 8 (Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning), in the country six days ahead of the global release. Indian fans have returned the favor with an outstanding box office opening — the biggest for any Hollywood film in 2025 so far.
Strong Opening Day Collections in India
On its first day, Mission Impossible 8 earned ₹17.5 crore at the Indian box office, according to Sacnilk.com. The film recorded an impressive 75.61% occupancy in English-language screenings. To put this in perspective, the previous Mission: Impossible film, Dead Reckoning, had opened with ₹12 crore in 2023.
This opening outperformed the launches of several Marvel movies this year, including Captain America: Brave New World (₹4.2 crore) and Thunderbolts (₹3.8 crore). It also beat some major Hindi releases like Akshay Kumar’s Kesari 2 (₹7.5 crore) and Sunny Deol’s Jaat (₹9.5 crore). Even the highest-grossing Hollywood film of 2025 in India, Minecraft Movie, opened with only ₹2 crore. Disney’s Snow White had a much smaller start at ₹65 lakh.
About Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning
In this eighth instalment, Tom Cruise returns as Ethan Hunt, directed once again by Christopher McQuarrie, who has led every film in the franchise since Rogue Nation. Originally titled Dead Reckoning – Part Two, the film was renamed following the release of the seventh part.

Critics Praise Cruise’s Powerful Performance

It called Cruise’s performance his most emotional in years and said he reminded everyone why he remains a true legend of action cinema.
