As the second anniversary of K-pop idol Moonbin’s passing approaches, a heartfelt memorial song is set to be released in his honor. M Entertainment revealed on March 27 that close friends and fellow industry figures will come together to release the tribute track on April 19, 2025. Several of Moonbin’s closest companions, including ASTRO members Cha Eun Woo, MJ, Jinjin, and Yoon San Ha, as well as his younger sister Moon Sua from Billlie, will participate in the memorial project. Additionally, friends from SEVENTEEN, Boo Seung Kwan and DK, along with SinB from VIVIZ (formerly GFRIEND), will also contribute to the tribute video.
According to M Entertainment, Cha Eun Woo has taken the lead in organizing this year’s memorial, personally reaching out to select ASTRO members to participate in the tribute song. While specific details about the track remain under wraps, fans can expect a meaningful and emotional tribute.
On the first anniversary of Moonbin’s passing, ASTRO released a memorial song titled “Fly,” which paid tribute to their beloved member. Prior to that, both Boo Seung Kwan and Cha Eun Woo had honored Moonbin with their individual songs, “Dandelion” and “Stalker.” In addition, Moonbin’s devoted fans and ASTRO’s fanbase, Aroha, have found their own ways to keep his memory alive. One notable tribute was the installation of billboards near Cheongdam Station, close to Fantagio’s office building, where Moonbin had worked.
Moonbin, born on June 26, 1998, in Cheongju, North Chungcheong Province, tragically passed away at the age of 25. His body was discovered by his manager inside his apartment in Gangnam, Seoul, on April 19, 2023. Authorities suspect suicide, but there were no signs of foul play.
Before his rise to fame with ASTRO, Moonbin had already gained attention as a child actor and model. He portrayed the younger version of one of the characters in the popular 2009 drama Boys Over Flowers, among other roles. In 2016, Moonbin made his debut as a member of ASTRO, which was announced by Fantagio in February that year. The group released their debut album, Spring Up, later that same year, and Moonbin’s talent and warm personality left an indelible mark on fans and peers alike.
Despite his untimely passing, Moonbin’s memory continues to resonate deeply with those who admired his artistry and character.
