Mother Killed, 3-Year-Old Daughter Injured in Accident

A woman injured in a collision between a car and a motorcycle in Bhaktapur has passed away. Police reported that Sapana Rai, the wife of Raju Rai, a resident of Pepsi Cola, Kathmandu, originally from Bhojpur, succumbed to her injuries.

Last Monday, at Madhyapur Thimi Municipality-2, near Divyashwori road, a car with registration number Ba. Pra. 01-027Ch. 927 heading from Pepsi Cola to Magar Gaun collided with a motorcycle bearing the number Ba. 50 Pa. 741 traveling in the same direction.

Sapana, who was critically injured in the accident, was taken to Motherland Hospital for treatment. She was later transferred to Kathmandu Medical College in Sinamangal, where she passed away during treatment on Wednesday, according to the police.

Sapana’s body is being kept at the hospital. Her three-year-old daughter, Ishwori, who was also injured in the accident, has been discharged after receiving treatment at the same hospital.

The car driver, 34-year-old Krishna Prasad Gautam, a resident of Budhanilkantha-4 originally from Sunapati Rural Municipality-1, Ramechhap, has been taken into custody by the Thimi Police Circle. Further investigation is underway, as stated by the Bhaktapur District Police Office.
