A motorcycle rider has died after being hit by a tipper truck in Gatthaghar, Madhyapur Thimi Municipality-3, Bhaktapur.
The deceased has been identified as 36-year-old Shyam Krishna Kayastha, a resident of Bhaktapur Municipality-6. The incident occurred when the tipper truck, with the registration number BA 31 PA 444, collided with Kayastha’s motorcycle (numbered Bagmati Province-03-001 Kh 1884) at around 3:45 PM on Wednesday, according to Dhundiraj Neupane, the spokesperson for the Bhaktapur District Police Office.
The motorcycle was heading towards Kathmandu when the tipper truck, traveling in the same direction, hit it. Kayastha suffered serious injuries and was taken to Bhaktapur International Hospital for treatment. The doctors declared him dead at 14:09, Neupane said.
The police have arrested the tipper truck driver, 47-year-old Chandra Lal Shakya, a resident of Barhabise Municipality-6 in Sindhupalchok.
