Mufasa: The Lion King Worldwide Box Office: Beats Men In Black 3

Mufasa: The Lion King has been breaking records at the box office for over a month and a half, and it shows no signs of slowing down. Today, the movie makes its digital debut, and it’s already surpassed the global earnings of Men in Black 3 and Ice Age: The Melt Down, securing a major achievement.

Released in 2012, Men in Black 3 stars Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones in the final chapter of the original trilogy. Meanwhile, Ice Age: The Melt Down, the second film in the Ice Age series, grossed $195.33 million in the US and $667.09 million worldwide.

Now, Mufasa: The Lion King has surpassed both, with its latest box office numbers putting it among the top 100 highest-grossing sequels of all time. The animated film has earned $687.30 million globally, with $445.5 million from international markets and $241.80 million from the US. It’s currently in the #99 spot and is expected to surpass Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones soon.

With $5.8 million from international markets and $4.2 million from domestic sales in its ninth weekend, Mufasa: The Lion King is on track to cross the $700 million mark this weekend.

After over a month of success in theaters, Mufasa: The Lion King is now available for digital viewing, giving fans another way to experience the film.
