The legendary superhero Shaktimaan is making a powerful comeback—but this time, not on TV or in theatres. Actor Mukesh Khanna, who became a household name for playing Shaktimaan and his alter ego Gangadhar, is back to inspire a new generation through an original audio series on Pocket FM.
Shaktimaan Returns in a New Avatar
After a long wait of 20 years, Mukesh Khanna’s iconic character is returning in a brand-new format. While fans were earlier excited about a planned film, that project has currently been shelved. Now, the superhero is being reintroduced in a fresh way—with a modern twist suitable for today’s audience.
Voice of the Hero
Mukesh Khanna will lend his voice to the new audio series of Shaktimaan on Pocket FM. Talking about the project, he shared,
“Shaktimaan is not just a show, it’s an emotion that lives in the hearts of millions. I’m thrilled to return as the voice of this beloved hero and connect with a whole new generation through Pocket FM’s wide reach.”
He believes this new platform is perfect to revive the spirit, values, and powers of Shaktimaan in the favorite format of young listeners—audio storytelling.
A New Story for Old and New Fans
This audio series is being developed in partnership with Bhishma International, Mukesh Khanna’s production company. The story will take place in a reimagined world with fresh adventures while staying true to the original spirit of the show. It aims to appeal to both the loyal fans who grew up watching Shaktimaan and new audiences discovering the superhero for the first time.
Mukesh Khanna’s Mission
In a previous interview with ANI, Khanna had said:
“I started this journey in 1997 and continued till 2005. I feel my duty is not over. I want Shaktimaan’s message to reach the public again by 2027, especially in today’s fast-paced world. The youth need to pause and reflect.”
A Look Back at the Classic
The original Shaktimaan series aired from September 13, 1997, to March 27, 2005, on Doordarshan. It became a cultural phenomenon and remains one of the most memorable Indian superhero shows.
There were talks about a film adaptation of Shaktimaan in collaboration with Sony Pictures, with rumors of actor Ranveer Singh playing the lead. However, Mukesh Khanna later dismissed those speculations and clarified that no such casting was confirmed.
