Police have arrested Santa Bahadur Sarki, a murder suspect who had been on the run for 14 years, from Belahiya Bus Park in Rupandehi.
Sarki, aged 57, is originally from Damre, Mathagadhi Rural Municipality–1 (formerly Chidipani VDC–7). He is accused of murdering 18-year-old Narbir Nepali on Kartik 11, 2068 BS (October 28, 2011).
After the incident, he had reportedly been hiding in India. Based on a tip-off, police tracked his return to Nepal and arrested him on Jestha 25.
A case has been filed against him under Section 177 of the Criminal Code, 2074 BS, for the crime of homicide. Police have taken 6 days of judicial remand under Section 149 of the Criminal Procedure Code, 2074 BS, for further investigation.
