Former Bangladesh cricket captain and wicketkeeper-batsman Mushfiqur Rahim has announced his retirement from One Day International (ODI) cricket.

The 37-year-old Mushfiqur has retired from ODI cricket with immediate effect.

He made his ODI debut in 2006 against New Zealand and is the player with the most ODI appearances for Bangladesh.

In 274 matches, he scored 7,795 runs, including nine centuries. As a wicketkeeper, he took 243 catches and made 56 stumpings.

Mushfiqur captained the Bangladesh cricket team from 2011 to 2014.

In the ongoing ICC Champions Trophy in Pakistan, Bangladesh was eliminated in the group stage after losing to India and New Zealand.
