Mysterious disappearance,Hayu family missing for 4 days

In Sindhuli’s Golanjor Rural Municipality-6, an entire family of 16 from the endangered Hayu community has been missing for four days. The family, including Urmila Hayu, was last seen after hosting a feast on Thursday. When a police team along with local representatives visited their remote home on Monday, no one was found there.

According to locals, even nearby neighbors—just 15 minutes away—have not seen the family since Friday. The kitchen was found in a burnt condition, utensils scattered, and their goats were starving in the pen. A dog was found crying at the site.

Authorities are making efforts to reach the family using contact numbers linked to social security records. Police say the phone location points to Manthali in Ramechhap, leading them to suspect the family may have gone traveling. However, there’s still no confirmation, and the situation remains a mystery.

The Hayu are listed as an endangered indigenous group in Nepal, with a population of just over 3,000 as per the 2021 census.
