Humla Covered in Over One Foot of Snow

Heavy snowfall since Poush 12 has covered Namkha Rural Municipality in northern Humla with over one foot of snow. Continuous snowfall for three days has disrupted roads, air transport, and daily activities

Former Chairperson of the rural municipality, Bishnu Lama, shared the update over the phone.

“Animals like cows are kept in shelters, but yaks are roaming freely. Traveling from one village to another is difficult, and transporting goods from the district headquarters, Simkot, has become challenging,” he said.

According to the Civil Aviation Office, all flights to and from Simkot have been canceled. As temperatures drop, elderly people and children in various areas are sitting around fires to keep warm. Locals report that this year, mornings and evenings have been particularly cold.
