Nepal has been unanimously elected as an executive member of the World Health Organization (WHO). The decision was made during the 78th WHO Assembly currently ongoing in Geneva. Nepal will now serve on WHO’s executive board for the next three years, representing the South-East Asia region.

Health and Population Minister Pradeep Paudel expressed his happiness, calling it a golden opportunity for Nepal. He believes this platform will allow Nepal to share its successful healthcare practices with the world and learn from international best practices to improve services at home.

Minister Paudel announced that Nepal plans to present a proposal next year that holds employers responsible for the health of migrant workers. This step, he said, aims to protect the well-being of not only Nepali workers but laborers across the globe.
