In the ICC U-19 Women’s T20 World Cup match held in Malaysia, Nepal faced a narrow one-wicket defeat against Scotland.
The game took place at the UKM Oval Cricket Ground, where Nepal set a target of 74 runs. Scotland chased it down in 18.4 overs, losing nine wickets. PPippa Sproul was the star for Scotland, scoring 35 runs off 47 balls, including three boundaries. Gabrielle Fontaine also contributed 12 runs.
For Nepal, Simana KC and Rachana Chaudhary claimed two wickets each, while Captain Puja Mahato and Krishna Gurung took one wicket each.
Earlier, Nepal batted first after winning the toss but managed only 73 runs in 18.5 overs. Captain Puja Mahato top-scored with 27 runs from 43 balls, hitting three boundaries. Sabitri Dhami added 10 runs, while other batters failed to reach double digits.
Scotland’s Maisie McCeira took five wickets, while Amy Baldai and Nayma Sheikh picked up two wickets each. Kristie Mackay added one to her tally.
This is Nepal’s second consecutive loss in the tournament, following their defeat against Bangladesh. On the other hand, Scotland’s victory boosts their chances of reaching the Super Six stage, despite losing their first match to Australia.
